THE 2010 ACRITEMY AWARDS (cooler than the Academy Awards, and the greatest honor in film…obviously.)
I saw 53 films that were released in 2010, and these are my top 15. I had a difficult time ranking them from 1-15, so instead I put them into four tiers that are each in alphabetical order.
BEST FILM(S):
Blue Valentine
127 Hours, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, The Social Network, Toy Story 3
Black Swan, Inception, Monsters, True Grit
The American, Despicable Me, Exit Through the Gift Shop, How to Train Your Dragon, The King’s Speech, Never Let Me Go
Best Actor (tie): James Franco, 127 Hours; Ryan Gosling, Blue Valentine.
Best Supporting Actor: Christian Bale, The Fighter (his performance was the only good thing about the film)
Best Actress: Michelle Williams, Blue Valentine
Best Supporting Actress: Hailee Steinfeld, True Grit
Best Animated Film: Toy Story 3
Best Direction (tie): Joel & Ethan Coen, True Grit; Edgar Wright, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
Best adapted screenplay: Aaron Sorkin, The Social Network
Best original screenplay: Christopher Nolan, Inception
Best original score: Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, The Social Network
Best cinematography: Roger Deakins, True Grit
Best straight-to-DVD-film: Cool Dog
