Levi Gudmundson is back at it again.

[See all posts tagged Shone]

For a dead guy, he spends a lot of time mailing cryptic letters and packages.

After going quiet for a few days, there was a new video on heatthing.com yesterday, called “Defender 237.” Here’s a gallery of screenshots from that video.

Today, we found out about a new series of letters. This time, instead of a letter and an art print, a bigger envelope contained a small wooden square and a note. It’s 1 of 9 pieces, and as Levi’s note says, all 9 will need to be pieced together to solve this. Also of note is that the package was sent to Virginia; every letter in the first series was sent to an address in New York.

Sam Means

“Long Way Down”

Sam Means - “Long Way Down” (NONA EP)

Everyone is still complaining that The Format isn’t a band anymore. It seems that for some reason, some folks begrudge fun. their success because The Format was “better.” Yes, I think they were better too (Interventions and Dog Problems are two of my absolute favorite records of all time) and I would have loved for them to find more success than they did and stick around longer than they did, but none of that matters.

Nate has found unbelievable success with fun., selling records and setting records with a ubiquitous hit single and I’m happy for him more and more by the day. (I got a little choked up watching this video of their MTV Movie Awards performance last night.)

Sam Means was the other half of the Format duo, and he just put out a 5-song EP called Nona. (His daughter Lola can’t quite say her own name, hence the name of the record.) If you’re missing that fun, solid indie-pop of The Format, pick it up right now for $4.99 on Amazon or his site.

TL;DR: Some nights Nate Ruess is on top of the pop charts, some nights that other dude from The Format releases new music.

And then there’s the time Rolling Stone thought Nate Ruess from fun. was gay because he wrote a song called “It Gets Better.” Journalism!
